Some clients prefer to outsource their storage and distribution needs, to a “Third-Party Logistics” company: a 3PL for short.
3PL solutions include:
Public warehousing offers an operating relationship in which the product is received, stored, order selected, and shipped on behalf of the client – a true “turn-key” distribution solution. All storage space, labor, equipment and reporting is performed by employees of the warehousing company. This form of warehousing does not require extensive contractual agreements, and is managed simply through the issuance of warehouse receipts and bill of lading documents. The term of a public warehousing relationship is typically month-to-month, allowing you the greatest flexibility.
Contract Warehousing provides the same”turn-key” distribution solution as public warehousing, but allows for a closer operational relationship including performance metrics, special handling needs, and typically involves a term commitment and perhaps minimum usage requirements.
Transportation Management: The planning and scheduling of equipment for your distribution needs.
Purchasing and Cost Containment: Assisting companies through volume purchasing support, inventory management, and consulting engagements.
